Recognition

Thanks to Swadesh Kumar’s sincere and untiring efforts to promote adventure sports and tourism in India, prestigious positions, awards and accolades came thick and fast. The world has recognised his dedication and commitment, shown since the early seventies. 

Swadesh Kumar’s extensive and impressive list of personal and professional achievements and recognition includes:

Hony. Secretary of the Indian  Association of Tour Operators (IATO)  during 1986-91 and Chairman of its Third Convention in Jaipur in 1994.

Founder member of India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), the apex body for promoting conferences in India, He was ICPB’s Vice Chairman for four years (2002-2006) and is currently  its Governing Board  Member.
As its  Vice Chairman  and  chairman  of ‘convention India’, he was responsible for the revival of ICPB  and for bringing  it to national and international prominence in the MICE industry. 

He’s been the President of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) India Chapter for four years (2003-2007).
 
He’s been elected as the Chairman of the International Chapter Presidents Council  (ICPC) of ASTA during 2006-07, and served on its Board.

He’s been closely associated with the Rotary Movement In India, and is a Charter Member of Rotary Club Of Delhi South Metropolitan, District 3010. He’s held the position of Assistant Governor (AG) in District 3010 during 2002-2003. He’s also organised the Rotary International  Council of Legislation  (Col) in India in 1999, and other rotary events  at national and international levels.

He’s been a Life Member of the Delhi Mountaineering Association since 1971.

He’s a Life Member of the Delhi Management Association.

He’s a member of the World Wildlife  Fund (W.W.F.)

He’s a Life Member of the Himalayan Club.

He’s a member of the Himalayan Association of Japan

He’s a member of Himalayan Environment Trust (HET) and presently a Director on the Board.
 
He is also Director of Gangotri Conservation Project of the Trust.

He’s worked as a Consultant for UNDP/WTO for their project  on ‘Sustainable Tourism  Development Plan for Nagaland'  during 2004-2005. For this project, he did intense research and visited all 11 districts of the state.
